Tesco enters the tablet dispute with Hudl

The supermarket chain is confident that its shoppers will see the attractions of getting into the tablet diversion via a famous brand.  But what does the coming of the Hudl - for that is the name of the product the company is launching this morning - mean for the overall marketplace? What is instantaneously clear is that Tesco is taking its tablet very seriously. This looks an aggressive and sensibly high-spec offering. It runs the latest version of Android, has a 1.5 GHz computer, an HD screen and flexible storage. 

The 7in device looks at first vision like any other small Android tablet - the Tesco content is mostly hidden under a "T" logo at the bottom left. Consequently where will it fit into an increasingly aggressive market? The Hudl at £119.99 should compete well here - though it probably wants to be that cheap to make up for the fact that several consumers won't see it as a recognized electronics brand.

Blackberry to Cut 4,500 jobs among Income Thrust

Blackberry has announced it is planning to cut 4,500 jobs, or 40% of its worldwide workforce, in an attempt to stop vast losses. The smart phone maker supposed it expected a loss of as much as $995m when it reports its second-quarter income next week. Shares in the firm closed down 17% after briefly being halted subsequent the announcement.

According to Blackberry's chief executive Thorstein, we are implementing the difficult, but necessary operational changes announced today to address our position in a growing and more competitive industry, and to drive the company toward profitability. Over the summer, word trickled out the business had hired a series of advisors to assist it explore options.

LinkedIn challenges US management over data requirements

LinkedIn, the business networking service, has mounted an authorized challenge to the US government's ban on disclosing the number of national security-related data requests it receives. Apple reveals two novel iPhone models: 5S and 5C handsets

Apple has unveiled two new handsets: the top-end iPhone 5S and a cheaper iPhone 5C at an occasion in California. The 5S introduces a fingerprint sensor built into the phone's main knob to recognize the user. The 5C comes with a synthetic back in a choice of colours. It marks a change of strategy for Apple which had not launched two distinct types of handset at the same instance before.

The iPhone is the firm's most main product in terms of earnings power. The new fingerprint system can be used to unlock the 5S and provide confirmation for purchases from Apple's online marketplace. The 5S' Sim-free price ranges from £549 for a 16 gigabyte version to £709 for a 64GB model. One analyst recommended the feature would help the handset stand out against its Android rivals.

Government rejects the science of Pesticide

The government says it accepts the EU ban on the use of some pesticides linked to bee deaths, but it discards the knowledge behind the moratorium. In a response to the ecological Audit commission, the government indicates it will not ban the use of these chemicals for gardeners. The Committee says they are dissatisfied with this approach.

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) criticized the government's approach in their report earlier this year. The government confirmed they were not convinced by the results of laboratory studies showing destructive effects to bees from these chemicals. They also rejected the plan of banning the sale of neonicotinoids for use by gardeners and in parks.

Samsung- Galaxy Device Smart Watch Accessory

Samsung has unveiled a smart watch with a color screen that can demonstrate alerts, be used for voice calls and run apps. The Galaxy Gear had been extremely anticipated as the firm is now the world's best-selling Smartphone maker and has beaten Microsoft, Apple and Google to reveal such a device. The smart watch will go on auction from 25 September - at the Ifa customer tech show in Berlin.

Samsung has previously supposed increase in the sales of its handsets was slowing, so investors are excited to see if it can find another successful product.  However, analysts warned that a choice to limit the watch to functioning as an accessory to other Galaxy Android devices might limit its appeal. The introduction of the Galaxy smart watch comes as no surprise to the industry, which has been expecting Samsung to beat the likes of Apple - as well as watchmakers and other consumer electronics companies.
