New York Times Website-Suspected Hacking

The New York Times website has gone offline for the second time this month after what the corporation described as a hateful external attack. A technical trouble knocked NYTimes.com offline on 14 August. Analysts supposed facts showed a group supporting Syrian president Bashar al-Assad was behind Tuesday's assault.

The website was incompletely back online three hours later, though some users still reported difficulties. During the postponement the New York Times published new articles on its Facebook page as well as a reflect site. According to Mr. Westin, media attacks seem to be rising and moving away from annoying, simple denial of service attacks and toward full domain compromise which, if successful, puts millions of NYT website users at risk.

Majestic thievery Auto 5 leak sparks Sony apology to Rockstar

Sony has issued a confession to developer Rockstar after audio from forthcoming title Grand Theft Auto 5 was leaked online. Customers who had pre-ordered the excitedly awaited game were allowed to download a locked version ahead of the game's release. However some people were able to take out audio from the game - details of which were posted on forums.

Unluckily some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto 5 through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA5 possessions leading to leaked information and media from the game appearing online. The company warned that anyone posting plot details from the game ahead of its discharge would be temporarily banned from its society.

Contamination caution app for swimmers and surfers launched

An app that gives bathers and surfers real-time warnings about contamination incidents on beaches has been launched. The free service sends alerts or text messages about discharges of manure and storm water at nearly 250 beaches in England and Wales. It was formed in response to concerns about a rise in sewage spills, which can cause illnesses for beach-goers. The service works by sending out alerts to users when contamination reaches unsafe levels and the information is posted online.

It was developed by the charitable trust Surfers against Sewage (SAS) and funded by the Environment Agency.  Last year's washout summer led to a rise in UK beaches failing to meet minimum values for water quality, while the sum of bathing spots which met the maximum levels for hygiene fell. The app accesses data from water companies on combined sewer overflows, which allow untreated sewage and storm water into the sea in periods of heavy rain to avert sewers backing up.

Twitter Tweets- home built ticker tape machine

A web developer from Cumbria has built a modern version of a 19th Century ticker-tape engine which prints out tweets. The creator Adam Vaughan supposed the 'twitter tapes' device was built from scratch using second-hand parts from clocks and other sources. The wooden foot hides a thermal printer and a micro-controller. Share prices were conventionally disseminated via telegraph lines and printed out on ticker-tape machines.

They were invented in 1867 and some unique machines are now considered to be high value antiques. According to Adam Vaughan, One day I thought it would be nice to have one sat on your desk and started to think about what information it could produce Twitter is perfect. The device connects to a computer via an ethernet cable and pulls information from Mr. Vaughan's Twitter account every 30 seconds.

Desktop 3D scanner-Makerbot Digitizer on sale

A desktop device that can quickly scan substance so they can be replicated using a 3D printer has gone on sale. Demand for the device appeared to excess the company's store when it went on sale on Thursday evening. It also allows users to upload their 3D designs directly to Thingiverse, a website where 3D designs can be public.

The Digitizer is the newest product looking to bring 3D printing to normal technology users - but experts are skeptical. The machine is intended to allow the replication of objects without any need for the user to learn any 3D modeling software or have any other special expertise. The time it takes to scan an object varies, but one exhibition involving a small gnome was said to take about 12 minutes.

Omate Truesmart Smart Watch offers Built-in Camera

Omate Truesmart - a smartwatch with a built-in five megapixel camera - is set to go into production after striking its crowd funding target. The machine raised more than $100,000 of pledges on fundraising site Kickstarter, guaranteeing it will get the cash. Omate's success comes ahead of the much-anticipated launch of a smart watch from Samsung.

Unlike many of the smart watches already on the market, Omate says the True smart can be fitted with a micro-Sim card to make use of its 3G chip. It has not announced when it will unveil the product, but its next scheduled event is at Berlin's If consumer tech show in just over a fortnight's time. This will allow it to make voice calls and send social media messages with no having to be paired with a smart phone or tablet - although that is also an option.
